In this episode of “WHAT’S IN THE INFLUENSTER VOXBOX,” we are going to talk about
Alright, alright. In case my little review puts you to sleep, I’m going to make this very, very quick. So let’s just jump right in.
The ZzzQuil Nighttime Sleep Aid is marketed as a “Non-habit forming, sleep aid” that boasts to “help you fall asleep in less than 20 minutes.”
It contains Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride or C17H22ClNO for those chem lovers out there.
This compound is also found in other medicines such as Benadryl, Dimedrol, Dormin, and Diphenhydramine. It is strictly used as a sleep aid and doesn’t have any other medical use (i.e., pain relief, anti-histamine, etc. ). It comes in both a liquid-gel capsule and liquid form and proclaims that you will “sleep soundly and wake refreshed” by “ensuring a sufficient night’s sleep of 7-8 hours.” …right…
Here’s why I wasn’t impressed by this VoxBox: THEY ONLY PROVIDED ONE DOSE OF THE SLEEP AID. How the frak am I going to be able to give you guys an HONEST review with just one dose. I’m a spoonie with insomniac tendencies, and my sleep schedule tends to do whatever it wants. When they send you the pre-survey to see if you qualify into a certain
When they send you the pre-survey to see if you qualify into a certain vox box, Influenster does not tell you what you’ll be getting. They just said a sleep aid, and there are a lot of things out there that are sleep aids. Like pillow sprays, white noise machines, etc.
Finding out that I was in this individual vox box, I wasn’t impressed or excited. I knew that I couldn’t take this sleep aid because it reacts with my medication that I have to take because I am a spoonie who deals with immune, migraine, and blood pressure issues. Three of my daily night-time meds have SEVERE interactions with this med, so I couldn’t try it.
PRO TIP FOR ALL MY SPOONIES OUT THERE: ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR MEDS FOR DRUG INTERACTIONS. Here’s one of my favorite drug interaction checkers.
I passed this sample over to Mr. Chaos, who has a more reliable sleep cycle than I do, and his conclusion is that he couldn’t tell a difference.
They do include a little coupon for $2 off of the full sized product, which you have to then purchase. So I guess if you wanted to try it out a bit more, instead of just going off of ONE dose, then you could do that. The 12 count box of ZzzQuil Nighttime Sleep-Aid Liquid Gels cost $6.99 and the six fl. oz bottle costs the same price.
Alas, my journey towards sleepytime continues with no avail. If you have any sleep-inducing remedies that you would like to share, please leave them in the comments below. As for this dinky VoxBox, I am not impressed. I love me some Influencer-goodness but this one was a total miss for me. At least I took some pretty pictures, so that’s cool.
