Ulta is having their semi-annual “21 Days of Beauty Steals” again. With that comes some spectacular deals…and me making multiple trips to Ulta in a week just to get a good deal. Most recently I decided to grab the newest Lorac ‘Champagne Dreams’ palette for $15 dollars. Not a bad deal if I do say so myself.
I am a fan of the Lorac Pro 2 Palette and even of the two mini palettes they released over Black Friday last year. I did a review over them HERE For the most part all of the palettes that I’ve had a chance to play around with have been lovely. So let’s talk about this one! For starters, it’s such a pretty looking palette. It’s almost a peachy-gold color with crisscrossed lines of gold and when you open it up it reveals 7 decent sized eye-shadow pans. In comparison to the Black Friday palettes, you get two additional shades and the overall pan size is a little bigger.
When I opened up the little palette, I feel in love with the colors immediately. There’s a nice mix of matte, satin, and shimmer to make just about anyone happy and they looked so lovely in the palette. For $15 bucks, it’s not a bad deal at all… I decided to swatch these puppies and see how the color payoff was, and that’s when I ran into a little bit of a snag.
As far as color comparison the first five shades (starting from the left) are how they are in the top row of the pan and the last two are from the bottom row – all swatched with a dense C-brush. OH NO! They don’t really show up on my arm at all! [Insert massive sad face here…] The matte cream shade (in the pan it’s on the bottom left) is basically my skin tone and the three shimmery colors don’t really have that great of a color payoff even though they are very pretty ‘shimmery’ colors. The satin ruddy-brown and deep brown colors were alright as well as the matte light brown but all in all I was really hoping for more. I guess for $15 I can’t really do a whole lot of complaining and after thinking a bit I realized that the shimmery colors will do well over top of other colors instead of by their lonesome – or if they were used by themselves they might be pretty neat for a highlight on the inner corner or brow bone, or if you’re feeling really adventurous pop some on your cheekbones or cupid’s bow.
After all was said and done I decided to rate the Lorac Cosmetics’ Champagne Dreams Palette: 6/10
:: GIVEAWAY TIME!::
With all that being said – I did manage to grab another palette while I was at the store, for the purposes of doing a giveaway AND I grabbed 2 Butter London Lippies in the color Ruby Murray as well to make the giveaway a little sweeter. One for me and one for the winner. I did a quick lip swatch to show off this pretty color, check it out! The palette is no longer available for purchase from Ulta because it was a one day only thingy-mah-bob but if you want to get your hands on it, here’s your chance!
